Earlier this year following community concern about increased rates of substance misuse amongst teenagers in Ali Curung, CAYLUS partnered with the Barkly Shire Council Sport and Rec team and CDEP, and Alcohol and Other Drug Services Central Australia (NT Health) to develop a mural based school holiday program.  School holidays can be a time of increased risk for young people in remote communities and fun, engaging activities are a good way to prevent this. A large group of young people aged from 5-25 helped design and paint the mural. Community members, youth and external agencies alike were all very supportive and impressed with the mural.  We continue to work in partnership with the shire to try and grow the  local youth sport and rec program  so that good activities like this can happen all of the time.
